Carmen Parlato Family
The Carmen “Snooky” Parlato Scholarship gives preference to students enrolled in an Automotive Technology program, particularly those who work full time or have significant family responsibilities. It was established by Gateway employee Carol Pompano in honor of her father, who worked his entire life as a truck mechanic for the Adley Express Company in New Haven. “My dad could fix just about anything, and he delighted in teaching family members and neighbors how to repair their cars and trucks,” Pompano notes.
Impact
“While he never graduated from high school himself, he had great respect for education and was proud when his own children became first-generation college graduates. He would be so pleased to think a student’s future is being touched by his family’s memories of him,” Pompano notes.
