Martha Phelan Hayes Memorial Scholarship for Readers and Writers

At thirty, while raising three young children, Martha embarked on her academic journey by first taking evening courses at community college, finishing her BA and MA at CT State University. She was a faculty member at Gateway Community College for twenty-seven years.
This merit scholarship, in honor of Martha’s dedication to literature, poetry, and creative writing, is awarded in her memory.
• Preference given to women who are balancing family, school obligations, and work.
• Minimum GPA: 3.0
• Completed: 15 or more credits
